The short answer
Most installs in Southwest Florida run $9 to $15 a square foot, depending on the turf and the site. The difference between a good quote and a bad one is rarely the turf itself. It's the base, the edges, the paperwork, and whether the price came from someone who measured your yard.
What moves the price
Size, the condition of the ground, access, demolition, the yard's shape (turf comes in 15-foot rolls, so cuts matter) and the product you choose. An honest quote is measured in person and names the product.
How homeowners get burned
- The density switch. A premium face weight on the quote, a lighter one on the truck. You can't see the difference by eye, so check the product on delivery against the quote: both weights, not one.
- The warranty gotcha. Manufacturer warranties exclude faulty installation and an inadequate base, so the cheapest install can quietly cost you the warranty.
- Process, not product. The most common complaints are no-shows, a final price higher than the quote, and deposits taken while work stalls.
The warranty, exactly
Turf carries the manufacturer's warranty for the product you choose (8, 16 or 25 years depending on the product), covering UV stability and strength; installation is covered by AJ Turf's 1-year labor warranty. You'll see the exact warranty for your product before you sign. Manufacturer coverage is prorated over its term and doesn't transfer to a new owner.
How payments should work
Money should follow the work. Ours: 30% to put the install on the schedule, 35% on the first day on site, and the last 35% when the job is done and you've walked it with us.
Judge a finished install yourself
- Seams closed and invisible
- No lumps or ripples
- Turf bonded to the border along its whole length
- Infill spread evenly, no white piles or bare spots
- Blades brushed up and standing
- At least 1.5 pounds of infill per square foot
